He is the founder of the world's largest Peace Torch Relay, which has covered more than 635,000 miles and reached millions of people in more than 155 countries, and is taking the message of world peace to more than 25,000 schools and youth groups.
Sri Chinmoy has given 777 free peace concerts around the world, with the largest audience of 19,000 in Montreal, Canada in 2000. His meditative concerts, in the universal language of music, spread the melodies of the soul that carry the eternal message of the need for peace. He composed more than 23,000 songs during his lifetime.
Over 150 countries, represented by their national leaders, have participated in the Sri Chinmoy Peace-Blossoms-Nations initiative, expressing their dedication to peace through the reaffirmation of their commitment to cooperation, dialogue, and peace. This global project has also seen the involvement of more than 900 landmarks, capitals, and major sites.
Sri Chinmoy established the Oneness-Heart-Tears and Smiles program in 1991 to support global humanitarian efforts. The program works closely with individuals and agencies in recipient countries to provide aid and educational resources in response to requests for relief and in support of regional development projects. By partnering with local organizations, Oneness-Heart-Tears and Smiles aims to effectively address the needs of communities facing hardship.
A collection of 140,000 paintings and nearly sixteen million bird drawings, created in a state of high meditative consciousness. These extraordinary abstract works have been exhibited in over 20 countries around the world in prestigious venues such as the Louvre in Paris, the United Nations in New York, Harvard University. His literary work is a treasure trove of unparalleled individuality. His writings contain a richness of the search for peace and self-realisation through more than 1600 volumes of poetry, essays and short stories, which have been translated into more than 25 languages around the world. His literary work has been recognised by, among others, the 1995 World Peace Literature Prize.
In more than 50 countries around the world, 900 Sri Chinmoy peace markers have been installed as a symbol of commitment to peace and as a constant reminder of its value. The markers include several statues of Sri Chinmoy, widely recognised as symbols of world peace.
